Gratitude at Thanksgiving

Thinking about gratitude, and being grateful, can shift how we experience life and moments with the ones we love and care about. During Thanksgiving this year we would like to invite gratitude as a dinner guest.

Gratitude is an art, the art of appreciation and being thankful. And it’s not just saying thanks for the turkey!

This thanksgiving I want to invite you to consider how you can appreciate the beauty that surrounds you and that lives within you.

Gratitude Benefits

Before we get into how to do that, let’s talk about a major benefit of gratitude:

Science has finally caught up with kindness. Gratitude has the ability to physically change our brain and neural pathways. The hypothalamus manages our major bodily functions and even sleep, so when we practice gratitude the hypothalamus is stimulated according to the National Institute of Health. Acts of gratitude also release dopamine which makes you feel good.

5 Ways To Practice Gratitude This Thanksgiving

  1. When you’re sitting around the table with your family, go around the table and have everyone say one thing they are grateful for.
  2. Make a list daily of three things you’re grateful for.
  3. Write a letter to one person that you appreciate in your life.
  4. Before you go to bed at night take a pause to thank your body for all of the hard work it does for you.
  5. When you eat your dinner this thanksgiving appreciate all of the hands that helped each part of your fabulous dish arrive on your plate.

This thanksgiving we want to invite you to appreciate each and every beautiful moment that you have with the ones you love.

With love from Soma & Soul Wellness.
